GoodDayOut Stargazing with Allan Trow at Dark Sky Wales
Hopefully by now you are looking at this to find out more details about our publicised event:
4pm – 5pm- Solar Scoping with Allan Trow, expert astronomer, by Trecastle Community Hall.
5pm – 8pm 30 minute talks in the pop-up planetarium from local Astronomer Allan Trow. This will be situated in a marquee on the playground above the Community Hall. Tickets can be pre-booked as spaces in the planetarium are limited but free of charge!
You will also have the chance to listen to another expert astronomer give a talk in Trecastle Chapel or take part in other astronomy-based activities at the hall, including some specifically for children. Food will be available to purchase during the evening.
From 9pm – Free shuttle bus to transport groups for real stargazing on The Roman Road above Trecastle to see 4 planets in alignment and a Lyrid Meteor Shower.
NB We would ask that ticket holders use this shuttle rather than their own cars to avoid light pollution in the stargazing area. If the weather is inclement, there will be more planetarium shows put on at the Community Centre. Unfortunately we cannot control cloud cover!
Tickets can be booked either by contacting Sharon Millar on 01874636433 or using Event Brite link http://goo.gl/fsMtLc to do it online. It is best to book your ticket to avoid disappointment as we cannot guarantee that there will be spaces available on the night although we will try to accommodate you.
Further details to follow so keep an eye on the website.
Join us for this exciting event on Friday 24th April in Trecastle, situated about 14 miles west of Brecon in the Brecon Beacons National Park.
There will be all sorts of lovely free activities for all ages, but we are delighted to have Dark Sky Wales’ fantastic planetarium show, a guest speaker and loads of activities, so even if the weather is not behaving it will still be fun and educational.
As the planetarium only holds 30 people, we have set up a ticketing system through Eventbrite for three shows starting at 5.30, 6.15 and 7pm. The shows last 30 minutes, but you need to turn up at least 15 minutes beforehand. Please only book places you need, or let us know if you change your mind after booking so other people can have a chance to experience this great show. Please click here for the booking link https://eventbrite.co.uk/event/16145176658/
There will also be fantastic affordable food and drink on site, and local hostelries will be joining in the celebrations, so you can make a night of it!
More details will be posted here and in our social media soon, but do make sure it’s in your diary!!!
